Built by Shivaji Maharaj in 1652, Kolaba fort is an old military fortification now turned into one of the most favoured tourist destination of Alibaug. Shivaji chose this place for his chief naval stations which has now turned into most interesting and protected monument.
A Lord Ganesha temple is a place worshipped by the fisherman and there is another temple dedicated to Mahishasura and Goddess Padmavati increase the importance of this place. The walls of the fort is crafted with carvings of animals and birds.
